Preparing For Spring!

In the North East it is still cold, there is snow on the ground but it is melting!

I’m doing some videos so that we will be prepared for the change in season. Here is one thing we can do that will prepare us.

When you are washing clothes, when clothes are either going in the washing machine or out of the dryer each time ask yourself if you need to even wash it.

Maybe you didn’t even wear it, maybe it doesn’t fit anymore, or it has a stain on it, maybe you don’t like it anymore.

Ask yourself, “Do I love it? Do I need it? Is it ripped? Is it good anymore?”

If it is something that you don’t need or want anymore, don’t wash it, trash it.

Do the same thing when you take something out of the dryer. If you don’t want it or need it anymore do something appropriate with it.

If it is something you want to keep BUT it is not needed anymore because of the change of season such as Long Underware, if you know you won’t be wearing those any longer till next season then put them aside, not away in the drawers or in the closet that you use now.

You don’t want to have all of last seasons clothing mixed up with the next season that is coming up.

This is even more important for your children’s room.

We tend to have way too much stuff for our kids.

Children should only have as much as they would take with them to camp for 2 weeks.

When we say to them “Go clean your room and put away these clothes…” but there is nowhere those clothes fit, it is really unfair to expect them to be able to do what we ask of them. So, think really diligently about the kids stuff you are getting in and out of the laundry.

So to recap: When you take the clothes out of the dryer after they have been washed ask yourself: “Do I want this, do I need this, Did I use this this season?”

If the answer is no, get rid of those things.

If the answer is “Yes, I do want it, I do need it, but I don’t need it anymore till next season.”

Put it in your storage area. We will talk about storage in another video.

If you don’t have a decent storage area, one that is in good shape, then just put the things where those things will belong, but not necessarily away in that area because you can’t actually put those things away yet.

Somthing else I would like to throw in where children are concerned is…

When you are taking the clothes out of the dryer that you are going to keep for another child because they are going to grow into it, you have to have some sort of tickler system so that you will remember where they are.

There is nothing worse to find a box of size 2 clothes when your child is now size 3.

So when you are taking the clothes out of the dryer from “Billy” that is going to fit “Joey” in the next couple of years you need to develop some sort of a tickler system so that you will know where they are and that they even exist when you need them.

In my course Tidy Tutor University I fully cover storage, but for now, this will still help you to get something in place so that next season you will be better prepared when you need things.

Thanks for being in my world. I look forward to hearing how things are going for you!

Much Love!
