Decorating, Minimalism and Living Authentically

While at The Home Depot  the other day I was thinking about how decorating and minimalism seem to be an oxymoron.

I had just gotten paint for my living room. I’ve lived at my new place for a year having done nothing to it, short of the getting a couch, tv, and end table.

I moved from my 4 bedroom home, where I lived for 16 years with my family who had grown and I no longer needed all that space for it was hard to make decisions about what to keep and what to purge.

I was moving to a one bedroom apartment and I couldn’t take it all with me. Plus I had some revelations about my things and how they were keeping me in a place that I no longer belonged in.

So buying new things like pictures and curtains and such didn’t make sense to me unless I KNEW what I wanted and why I wanted it.

I wanted to be sure I was decorating and buying things for the living room because it was what I wanted to do, not because I felt I was supposed to… after all, everybody else does it!

I hope you will watch the video, we touch on so many topics. I would love to hear what you have to say about it.

OH! and Here are 2 links that I promise, they are the 2 blog series’ Authentic Living and Feminalists- (Feminine Minimalists). This blog is a continuation of both of them.

Much LOVE!
