Getting Undressed

What do you do with your clothes when you take them off before bed?

I’ll bet I know. You drape them on a chair or maybe a treadmill in your
bedroom.

You can’t even recognize what it is that you put them on anymore can you?

Do you know why I think that we pile clothes up on top of these things?
Because we think we are going to wear them again, so we don’t put them
in the hamper.

But we feel that we can’t put them away, cause we wore them!

You CAN put away clothes that you took off, if you are going to wear them
again, lots of people do it! The OGP (Organizationally Gifted People) of
the world do it.

They don’t EVER leave clothes hanging on chairs or couches or treadmills.

If you know that you will not be washing that article of clothing before you
wear it again, or if the only place you think it can go is on your desk chair,
than you have to put it in the hamper!

Honestly, this is what people who don’t live in a mess do. If the clothes they
take off don’t get put away they go in the hamper.

So, I challenge you to make this become a new habit.

I also want to discuss what we go to bed in.

When you take your clothes off, what do you put on?

If you sleep in the nude, you don’t have to think about this of course.

But if you put on a ratty old T-shirt or crappy old sweat pants, I want you
to stop doing that.

Weather you live alone or with someone, you owe it to yourself to go to
bed feeling good.

I want you to get rid of the ratty things you have been going to bed in and
get yourself somethings that are decent to sleep in.

They don’t have to be fancy, they don’t have to be expensive, just think
respectful.  Think happy when you look at yourself when it’s time for bed.

Don’t wait untill you are so tired that you take off your clothes and they end
up in a heap on the floor as you crash and burn.

Give dignity to your day, and make a new habit to give yourself a little bit of
time to wash your face, moisturize, and put on some PJ’s that make you smile.

Then take the clothes you took off and get them in the hamper if they are dirty
or put them away if you will wear them again, and go to sleep feeling like a
human being, and like your life. It is important.

We have it backwards. We take care of ourselves for people who don’t love us,
who live on the outside of our homes, but not for those we live with, or for
ourselves (the people who matter most!) Like I said, we have it backwards.

We spend the most time with ourselves. It is about time we start caring, and
acting like WE matter.

Let me know how you do with this! Let me know if you made this adjustment,
and what it has meant to your life.

Thanks for being part of my world. Please let me know how things are going.
